GaysTryst may not offer plenty of features, but the good news is that three out of the four primary communication functions are free.

• Winks

Even in offline interactions, a wink is a subtle but definite sign that someone’s got their eye on you. At GaysTryst, this feature immediately notifies the object of your fancy. If they’re also online, the member in question may send a wink right back at you or start a flirty conversation right off the bat.

• Like Gallery

Inspired by the infamous swiping feature, the Like Gallery lets users appreciate profiles one by one. Click the heart if you like what you're seeing or the “X” mark if you’d like to keep on looking for more members at GaysTryst.

• Favorites

Keep track of all the exciting members with impressive efficiency by adding their profiles to your Favorites list. 

• Chat

The only paid feature among the four, the chat is your chance to interact with another member directly. Aside from exchanging adorable banters, you can also send a photo or a video file within the GaysTryst chat function.

The chat being a paid function is probably GaysTryst trying to limit the opportunities of scammers to get in touch with paying and dedicated members. The rationale behind it is that those who wish to catfish others will be discouraged since they have to pay first to do so.

Still, we were a bit suspicious of the number of messages we received. Right after verifying our email, we received a message from the Site Admin welcoming us to GaysTryst. This expected chat was soon followed by a barrage of gay men winking, adding us to their Favorites, and ultimately messaging us.

Some may say this is equivalent to a high member activity, but the influx of attention was before we got the chance to customize our profiles. It's either the majority of the members are premium subscribers diligently shooting all the shots they can muster, or there is indeed suspicious activity to entice new users to purchase a  membership at GaysTryst immediately.

An advantage of GaysTryst is that it allows a free user to browse most of a member’s profile. Except for the photo gallery and the member’s intentions for joining the dating site, a standard member can view the following:

• Basic Information

This section will be at the topmost of the profile and will include the member’s profile photo, tribe, username, age, and location. The buttons that will allow another user to block or report the said profile will also be in this portion.

• Personal Information and Location

Details such as sexual orientation, hair color, ethnic origin, and body type will allow one to at least get an idea of what the member is like. The location will also be displayed in a member’s profile.

• Additional Information

GaysTryst will also display information on their physique, hobbies, vices, and professional life to form an even more in-depth impression of the member.

A GaysTryst profile may not be as lengthy, but its details are more than enough to pique a passing member’s interest. However, most of the profiles we encountered lack details save for the basic information and a photo or two.

Another minor beef we had was the seemingly inappropriate classification of a member’s tribe. We’ve seen a burly man in his late 30s sporting a full-grown beard tagged as a “twink.” Another gay man who embodies the stereotypical “twink” features—slim build, no facial hair, and 23 years old—was a “daddy.”

Then again, the customization of profiles at GaysTryst isn’t mandatory. Completing the fields and uploading a primary photo are skippable steps. But complete profiles receive more attention from other members. 

As for the tribes, it’s ultimately a form of self-expression. If your physical features scream bear, but you are most comfortable dressing and acting like a twink, then so be it. After all, you are solely responsible for your happiness and comfort. Despite the site's efforts to filter suspicious accounts, fake profiles are still possible.
